Trading one Marvel comics girl for another, apparently. Meet Gwen Stacy, of Ultimate Spider-Man.

the canon
If you're familiar with Spider-Man at all, you probably know Gwen Stacy as Peter Parker's girlfriend, who gets thrown off a bridge by the Green Goblin and killed, and it's all very sad.
Then you have the comics' Ultimate universe, where the characters are slightly reimagined, and you get this Gwen. Who totally escapes that particular fate. Mostly. In the Ultimateverse, Gwen is a transfer student to Midtown High and the daughter of the police chief. On her second day of school, she stands up to a guy who's bullying Peter and gets suspended because she pulled a knife on him, oops. She meant well! Her homelife kind of sucks, as her mom ends up running away with another guy and basically wants nothing to do with Gwen, and her dad doesn't know how to relate to her and is kind of scared of her. After her mom leaves she ends up staying with Peter and his super awesome Aunt May, and after Gwen's dad is killed in the line of duty, they invite her to stay with them permanently as they are the best.
Gwen eventually learns of Peter's identity as Spider-Man, and it's right before she meets Carnage. Carnage would be a mass murdering alien symbiote created in part from Peter's DNA without his knowledge and based off his father's research, which had resulted in Venom. And it just so happened that Gwen was outside the house when Carnage came looking for Peter, and he killed and mummified her. :(
But! As it turned out, Roxxon (aka the exact same place that gave us our very own Jessica Drew) decided to turn Gwen into an experiment. She woke up in what she thought was a hospital and returned to the house during a breakout of the facility she was in, only to find out that Peter and May had moved. Oh, and when he found her she was sporting Carnage's face, because she basically was Carnage, and when she got upset she would turn into a literal monster. Long story short, in a fight with Venom he absorbed the Carnage symbiote, leaving Gwen behind as a normal girl.
about gwen
Gwen shows up at Midtown with a bang: aside from pulling a knife on a guy for bullying a kid she didn't even know (and then demanding he apologize to Peter when she was allowed back in class), she's very opinionated, and is pretty showy in the way she dresses. She got expelled from her previous school and has no problem with people thinking she's a psycho bad girl, but she's really not. She comes from a kind of troubled homelife, but she calms down a lot once she moves in with May and Peter and gets a fantastic new mom figure out of it. She's still outspoken and won't put up with bullying or racism or bullshit of any sort, really, but she's less likely to pull a weapon on you, probably. Gwen is also a total drama queen. She has a tendency to blow things way out of proportion, and then go away to think about it and comes back, totally rational about the situation now.
And yeah, she's a clone. It has no bearing on who she is though, really. She doesn't have any special powers or abilities, she's just a girl who came back from the dead in a different body. Gwen has no memory of her death, though she is kind of rattled by everything, and she'll be getting a canon catchup to make that all better really before she comes to town.
I'd say she's about average height, with blonde hair and bangs, and while her eyes were originally green, her clone self came back with blue eyes for some reason. While I'm using Emma Stone for her PB because she's actually perfect, Ultimate Gwen dresses very differently. She's got sort of a punk thing going on, with a lot of midriff showing (and a pierced bellybutton!), a lot of jewelry.

So that's Gwen. She's from the same universe as Jessica and Johnny, though different timelines, and knows her version of Flash and Kitty. I'm not sure anyone else in the Marvel Universe would really know her, but if you do, all I ask is that you not tell her what happens to her in 616.
All done!
