The Parker home- Queens, NY- Sunday night

Gwen didn't get to go home much these days, but when she got the chance it was the best thing in the world because it really was home. It was somewhere that she could sit around and chat with Peter when he got back from doing his superhero thing, till Aunt May called them down, and it was so normal and Gwen missed it.

"There's dinner in the fridge," Aunt May said, accepting a kiss on the cheek from Peter as they met at the bottom of the stairs.

"Good dinner or-" he began.

"Free dinner."

"Oh, good, laundry. Could you wash my costume?"

"Put it on the pile," Aunt May said. "Kitty called."

"What did she say?" Peter asked, headed for the fridge.

"I'm not an answering service," Aunt May replied as she disappeared into the basement with the laundry.

"She probably wants to pretend she's not in love with you," Gwen said lightly, taking a seat at the kitchen island.

Peter rolled his eyes. "Stop. She was. She's not anymore."

"She so is," Gwen insisted.

"Leave her alone, she's been through a lot."

"We've all been through a lot," Gwen pointed out.

"Well, that's true." He took a seat across from her, digging into his dinner. "And we're all friends, and it's nice to have friends."

As if on cue, the doorbell rang, and Gwen and Peter both stopped for a second before getting back up. Gwen pretty much went out of curiosity. She had no idea who would be ringing the bell if it wasn't some drama thing.

And when Peter opened it, there was Johnny Storm, with a giant duffel bag over his shoulder. "Hey, Peter."

"Oh my god," Peter said. "Where've you been? Are you okay? It's been months."

Gwen would have happily tried to break Johnny's brain with some kind of 'what's up, alternate universe bff,' thing, but he didn't look so great. "I just- I need somewhere to crash. Can I stay here tonight? I hate to ask. I just need a bed or..."

If Peter wasn't quick, Johnny would have fallen over, but he caught him to keep him somewhat standing. "Hey, hey."

"Sorry. I'm just..." Johnny said, but he didn't finish that, because he was out.

They got him to the sofa, and when Aunt May came back upstairs Peter and Gwen got to explain why there was a passed-out superhero on their furniture. "That's Johnny Storm?" Aunt May asked, looking at him. "He's just a baby."

"He's my age, Aunt May," Peter said.

"You're a baby. Is he going to light my couch on fire?"

"No."

"But he does that, right? He lights on fire."

"Not just whenever. I'm just glad he's alive. There were rumors."

"What's he doing here?"

"Sleeping."

"No, I mean, why did he show up here? Should I call someone?"

"Who?"

"His parents?"

"Uh," Gwen said. She'd been able to be mostly quiet through all this, but she actually had this information. "If he's from when I think he is, that's not a great idea." Since all he had was Sue...

Aunt May took that in, but considering she'd let Gwen stay with a similar reason, she just nodded. "Let's let him sleep."
